The 2008 election will be an important time to support a candidate who will speak clearly and directly on the issues that are important to the people of Maine and beyond. A group of Green Party members in Maine, and non-Greens, have decided to support Cynthia McKinney for president. Cynthia, a six-term member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Atlanta, Georgia, has been nominated for president by the national Green Party.

Cynthia McKinney resigned from the Democratic Party because she felt that her former party has left the people behind as it has chosen to do the bidding of the corporations that now control the U.S. government.

Cynthia McKinney provides the progressive community in the U.S. a great opportunity to bring together peace activists, environmentalists, social justice activists, women, and people of color in order to build a real alternative political movement that will give voice to our concerns that are now largely ignored by the corporate controlled media and war parties.

Cynthia McKinney has stated that her goal in the 2008 election is to help the Green Party gain major party status by garnering 5% of the national vote. Your vote can count in 2008 toward making that goal a reality.
